A British dude,
an American garage
Stateside Speed Shop is a working garage in Austin, Texas. We buy, sell, and keep vintage Harley-Davidsons and British twins on the road — Shovelheads, Panheads, Knuckleheads, Ironheads, Triumphs, BSAs and Nortons. One shop. Real bikes. Real parts. Bought · Sold · Kept Alive.
How the shop started
It started the way most small garages do — one bike, a lot of free weekends, and a stubborn refusal to throw broken old motorcycles away. A British rider landed in Texas, found himself surrounded by AMF-era Shovelheads in barns, ranches and estate sales, and started bringing them home. Friends asked for help. Friends of friends asked. By 2019 it was a business — Stateside Speed Shop.
Seven years and several hundred bikes later, the same idea still runs the shop: pull good old iron out of the corners of Texas, sort it honestly, photograph it in daylight, describe what's right and what's wrong, and send it on to the next rider. Nothing dramatic. Just slow, careful work on motorcycles that should outlive all of us.
What we actually do
- Buy & sell complete bikes. Shovelheads, Panheads, Knuckleheads, Ironheads, Evo Big Twins. British twins when we find them — Triumph, BSA, Norton. Mostly Texas-sourced, mostly road-ready or almost-there project bikes.
- Sort and sell parts. Engines, transmissions, frames, tanks, fenders, primaries, carbs, magnetos, small parts. We list what's in the shop today, with the year, condition, and known fitment.
- Source what you can't find. Tell us what you need for the build — Linkert, S&S shorty, '47 springer, NOS bars — and we'll keep an eye out at every yard sale, swap meet and estate clear-out we hit.
- Keep collectibles around. Period dealer signs, posters, manuals, memorabilia. The wall stuff that makes a workshop feel like a workshop.
How we describe what we sell
Most of what we sell is decades old. We photograph in daylight, list every flaw we know about, and answer condition questions before you buy — not after. If a part is cracked, dented, helicoiled, or freshened up with bondo by some previous owner, the listing will say so.
We don't sell "as new" unless it actually is new. We don't airbrush the photos. We don't write listings that hide damage in the language. Vintage iron has a history; we'd rather tell you what that history was than pretend it didn't happen.
Where we are
The shop is in Austin, Texas — appointment only, no walk-ins. Most inventory ships out of Leander, just north of Austin, by FedEx Ground for parts and by freight for engines, tanks, frames, and complete bikes. We ship across the lower 48 every week, and internationally on request.
The fastest way to talk to us is WhatsApp — pictures, video, voice notes, all welcome. Phone and email work too. We answer the same day during shop hours, seven days a week.
